The payments industry had high hopes for a quick adoption of mobile payment technology, especially after several “game changers” entered the ring – Apple & Google, just to name a few. However, what was supposed to be a digital “revolution” has really turned out to be an “evolution”. Adoption of digital payment solutions by both merchants and consumers is progressing at a slow rate, which has prolonged the use of plastic cards. With several roadblocks in the way, it looks like plastic cards are here to stay…at least for a while to come.
